Varieties of Jammun

जामुन की कि‍स्‍में

There are several area-specific local selections of Jamun identified by farmers or local people based on fruit size, shape, and taste, fruiting and fruit maturity time. Some such selections grown in North India are given below-

Ra-Jamun

Fruits are oblong, large, juicy, sweet, deep purple coloured and small seeded

Badama

Fruits are large and very juicy

Kaatha

Fruits are small and acidic

Jathi

Fruits ripen in May-June

Ashada

Fruits ripen in June-July

Bhado

Fruits ripen in August
