The Cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) करौदा is a new herbaceous crop which comes under minor fruit. The genus Physalis, of the family Solanaceae, contains around more than 100 species of annual and perennial herbs. Several species of Physalis are grown for their edible fruits like, P. peruviana L.
