अरण्‍ड का ब्रीडर और प्रमाणित बीज उत्पादन Castor is a non-edible oil-yielding crop, it requires warm climate, grown in tropical, sub-tropical and temperate regions. Crop is widely grown in India, Brazil, China, Thailand, USSR and USA. India, Brazil and China contribute about 90 % of world production. India is the largest producer and exporter of castor oil in the world. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa, are the major castor growing states in India. Castor seed contains 48 to 56 per cent of oil it has wide range of uses. It is mainly used as lubricant and medicinal purpose. It is also used in the adhesives, plastics, soaps, printing ink, waxes, rubber substitutes, drying oil for enamels, paints, varnishes and cosmetics industries.  Large quantity of castor oil is used in paints and varnish industry. The plant is used as a source of pulp for cellulose, cardboards and newsprint.  The oil cake is used as manure. Castor oil is unique among vegetable oils due to the presence of a hydroxy fatty acid known as ricinoleic acid which constitutes about 84-90% of the total fatty acids in the oil. The castor oil is different from other vegetable oils in the sense that it does not freeze even under adverse temperatures of -12...

रेशमकीट इरी के मेजबान सार्वकालिक पौधे केसेरू की खेती   Ericulture contributes significantly Indian commercial silk production which is mostly confined to north-eastern part of the country i.e. Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. A small quantity of eri cultivation has been extended to Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. In addition, Ericulture is practiced in China, Brazil, Russia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bolivia, Ethiopia, French, Egypt, Italy etc. Eri silkworm feeds primarily on castor leaves, but sufficient castor leaves are not available throughout the years for commercial rearing. Therefore, Kesseru (Heteropanax fragrans Seem) is used as an alternative food plant during the scarcity of castor leaves. Depending upon food preference and rearing performance of both wild and cultivated silk worms, Kesseru ranks next to castor. Kesseru (Heteropanax fragrans) belongs to the family Araliaceae and it is soft wooded perennial tree grown in plain as well as hilly tracts of northeastern India. Since, it is a perennial plant, the cost of cultivation and leaf yield potentiality is better than Castor. The productive life of Kesseru is more than 25 years and annual leaf yield per hectare is found almost 20-25 MT from a properly maintained farm. Moreover, Kesseru plant is less susceptible to disease and pests...

अरंड की खेती कैसे करें  Castor (Ricinus communis L.) is generally grown for seeds. Castor seed oil is being used widely for various purposes. It is used as a lubricant in high-speed engines and aeroplanes, in the manufacture of soaps, transparent paper, printing-inks, varnishes, linoleum and plasticizers. It is also used for medicinal and lighting purposes. The cake is used as a manure and plant stalks as fuel or as thatching material or for preparing paper-pulp. In the silk-producing areas, leaves are fed to the silkworms. How to grow Castor Land prepration for castor cultivation:  The land is repeatedly ploughed in summer, as and when the rains are received, and with the onset of monsoon rains the clods are crushed by working a country plough or harrow to bring the soil into proper tilth. Sowing of castor: Before sowing, castor seed should be treated with Thiram 3 g/kg of seed to prevent the attack of root-rot and Alternaria blight. The spacing adopted generally ranges from 90-120 cm between rows and 45-60 cm between plants in the row. The seed is sown either in the plough furrow or with a seed-drill or by hand-dibbling. The seed-rate used for sowing behind the plough is 12 kg per hectare. For hand-dibbling, 8 to 10 kg of seed will be sufficient per hectare.  One or two weedings and hoeings with bullock-drawn implements...

अरंड के प्रमुख कीट एवं उनका प्रबंधन Castor is an important oil seed crop the plant has a substantial tap root with many lateral branches which can reach a great depth. Annual cultivated varieties reach a height of 0.9 - 1.5m whilst natural perennial varieties can grow as tall as 6m. As a species, the plants are very variable. Leaves are large, glossy and green with pointed lobes and prominent veins, each develops on a long stalk. The inflorescence consists of an erect panicle with female flowers at the top and male flowers at the bottom. The female flowers open before the male flowers and hence there is a large degree of cross-pollination. The flowering period may be long. The fruits are spherical capsules which become hard and brittle. The seed capsule has thick walls, is spiny and contains 3 coci. Each cocus contains one seed. The castor bean contains 50-55% oil. The oil itself contains a number of fatty acids similar to those in cooking oils, such as oleic acid, linoleic acid, stearic acid and palmitic acid. However, among vegetable oils, castor oil is distinguished by its high content (over 85%) of ricinoleic acid. No other vegetable oil contains so high a proportion of fatty hydroxyacids. Castor oils unsaturated bond,...
