Contemporary agriculture's reliance on chemical fertilizers has led to significant environmental pollution and degradation of soil fertility. As an alternative, microalgae and plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) have emerged as potential biofertilizers due to their ability to enhance soil fertility through the production of bioactive compounds, such as phytohormones, amino acids, and carotenoids, and their capacity to suppress plant pathogens. Traditionally, agricultural treatments have focused on single-species applications of either microalgae or bacteria. However, recent experimental evidence highlights that a symbiotic relationship between microalgae and bacteria can positively influence each other's physiological and metabolic processes. This synergistic interaction is particularly promising for biotechnological applications, such as wastewater treatment and efficient biomass production, due to its enhanced effectiveness. Despite the promising potential, the interactions between microalgae and bacteria in agricultural contexts remain underexplored. This article explores the impact of microalgae and PGPB as biofertilizers on vegetable production and discusses the potential benefits of co-culturing these organisms for environmentally sustainable and improved vegetable cultivation. Ecological Impact of Chemical Fertilizers in Agriculture The widespread use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture has significantly increased crop yields and cultivation efficiency. However, this practice has led to substantial environmental problems, including water, soil, and air pollution. Excessive chemical fertilizer...

Biopesticides is a type of pest management technique that uses natural microorganisms, plants, and other biological materials to control pests and diseases in agriculture. Biopesticides have attracted significant attention in recent years due to their eco-friendly nature, low toxicity, and ability to target specific pests.

Today, organic farming is being considered as an alternative to chemical farming all over the world. Farmers can get good profit by using bacterial fertilizers. For nutrient management in organic farming, it becomes necessary for the farmers to use different types of bacterial fertilizers so that there is no decline in crop production and productivity and soil fertility remains intact.

Microorganisms have developed diverse strategies to survive and compete for the resources of their habitat, and one of them is the production of inhibitory substances. Growth-inhibitory microbes are microorganisms that produce compounds or enzymes that inhibit other microorganisms. inhibit the growth or metabolism

Plant diseases cause 13 - 20 % losses in crop production worldwide. Control of plant disease by chemical can be spectacular but the accumulation of harmful chemical residue sometimes causes serious ecological problems. Biocontrol agents are economical, suppress the inoculum load of the target pathogen, long lasting and free from residual side effect. Fungi in the genus Trichoderma and Bacteria in the genera of Pseudomonas and Bacillus are increasing interest as bioprotectants against plant diseases. Biocontrol agents in general and Pseudomonas fluorescens in particularhave gained importance as a component of Integrated Pest Management for sustainable agriculture (Mukhopadhyay, 1987).  Pseudomonas fluorescens belong to Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), the important group of bacteria that play a major role in the plant growth promotion, induced systemic resistance, biological control of plant pathogens etc. P. fluorescens as biocontrol agent: The bacteria P.  fluorescens possess many traits that make them well suited as biocontrol and growth-promoting agents. These include the ability to- Grow rapidly in vitro and to be mass produced. Rapidly utilize seed and root exudates. Colonize and multiply in the rhizosphere and spermosphere environments and in the interior of the plants. Produce a wide spectrum of bioactive metabolites. Compete aggressively with other microorganisms. Adapt to environmental stresses and, Inexpensive Isolation and identification: Collect rhizosphere soil...
