Importance of Bounding in Soil and Water Conservation मेढ़ बंधीकरण (बंडिंग) सीमांत, ढलान एवं पहाड़ी भूमि के लिए एक पारंपरिक, कम लागत वाला ,सरल भूमि प्रबंधन अभ्यास है । यह तकनीक  मृदा - अपरदन को नियंत्रित करने, जल प्रतिधारण को बढ़ाने एवं फसल उत्पादन में वृद्धि हेतु सफलतापूर्वक उपयोग की जाती है। मेढ़ (बंड) एक मिट्टी की तटबंध है जिसे ढलान को नियंत्रित करने के लिए बनाया जाता है, एवं ढलान की लंबाई को कम करके मृदा-अपरदन को कम किया जाता है। यह मृदा-अपरदन को नियंत्रित करने के लिए एक यांत्रिक / अभियांत्रिकीय विधि है। इस अभियांत्रिकीय उपाय में मुख्य रूप से ढलान वाली भूमि सतह का संशोधन करके बहते हुए जल को संरक्षित किया जाता है एवं इस जल के बहाव से उत्पन्न होने वाले मृदा क्षरण/ कटाव में कमी आती है। मेढ़ बंधीकरण के मुख्य उद्देश्य: (i) यह भूमि सतह पर जल के ठहराव के समय को बढ़ाता है एवं  भूमि के जल स्तर को बढ़ाने में सहायता करता है, (ii) कई बिंदुओं पर बाधा उत्पन्न करके जलप्रवाह गति  को कम करता है, एवं (iii) मिट्टी को जल के प्रवाह से होने वाले क्षरण से बचाता है। मेड़ (बंड्स ) के प्रकार एवं उनको बनाने के तरीके मेड़ एक तटबंध है जिसका निर्माण  भूमि ढलान कि लंबवत दिशा में किया जाता है । खेतों में मृदा क्षरण...
