Trimble Agriculture’s GreenSeeker® handheld crop sensor, available across India, is an easy-to-use handheld measurement device designed to assess the health of a crop. Readings taken with the device can be used to make objective decisions regarding the amount of fertilizer to be applied to a crop, resulting in a more efficient use of inputs. Farmers or any other operator just need to position the handheld sensor over a plant, pull the trigger, and the GreenSeeker handheld instantly calculates the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), which represents the health of the plant. By gathering several readings from plants throughout a field, farmers can better determine the overall health and needs of a crop. This can result in a more efficient use of fertilizer, which benefits both the farmer's bottom line and the environment. Rajan Aiyer, MD, India and SAARC region for Trimble said, “GreenSeeker Handheld is a powerful yet affordable device that can help boost crop yields for Indian farmers while still reducing their overall fertilizer usage. As the global leader in Precision Agriculture technologies; we are thrilled to bring GreenSeeker to India; for we believe technology can play a key role in boosting India’s agriculture productivity and farmers’ incomes.” The GreenSeeker handheld provides farmers, agriculture researchers and scientists with an affordable way to...
