आम के 9 प्रमुख रोग व उनका नि‍दान कैसे करें The mango (Mangifera indica) is an evergreen fruit tree. It is national fruit of India. It is a juicy stony fruit belonging to family anacardiaceae. The  mango is native to South Asia. India accounting 42 % sharing in total world mango production. Mango is a rich source of vitamin C. dried mango skin and its seeds are also used in ayurvedic medicins. Mango  leaves are used to decorate archways and doors in Indian houses. Mango also used for achar making, amchoor and for vegetable. Mango suffers from several diseases at all stages of its life. The major diseases of economic importance in India are: 1. Powdery Mildew (Oidium mangiferae) The symptoms can be noticed on the inflorescence, stalk of inflorescence, leaves and young fruits. The characteristics symptoms of disease are white superficial powdery growth of the fungus on these parts. The effective flowers may fall prematurely and young fruits may remain on the tree until they reach up the marble size and then drop prematurely. Dropping of unfertilized infected flowers and young fruits leads to serious crop loss (20-80%). Control:- Pruning of diseased leaves and malformed panicles reduces primary inoculums. Three sprays of systemic fungicides during flowering season are recommended at 12-15 days intervals. 1st spray...

आम में कायि‍क विकार, भारतीय आम उत्पादकों के लिए एक बड़ी परेशानी Mango orchards in India are facing declining growth in recent time leading to decrease in yield and productivity. Although a number of factors are responsible for mango yield decline, yet physiological disorders play more devastating and vital role. As a result, mango growers are losing their faith and interest in mango orchards and trying to shift their cultivation practices from mango to other crops. Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is the choicest fruit of India in terms of production, economy and acceptability by the consumers. In India it covers around 36 per cent of total fruits growing area. Owing to delicious taste, succulence type and exotic flavour it enjoys the same popularity in the tropics as apple in the temperate region. India is the largest producer of choice table varieties of mango in the world. More than 1000 mango varieties are under cultivation in India, each differing in shape, size and taste. But the production share of mango in India is quite low (20.3%) with total annual production of only 15.19 million tons due to low productivity (6.6 tonnes/ha). Despite India has got excellent export mango varieties (Dashehari, grown in northern India, Alphonso and Kesar in western India and krishnabhog, Gulabkhas and Himsagar in...

फल फसलों के सि‍लाईड (Psyllid) कीट और उनके प्रबंधन  Psyllids pests are major problem in fruit crops under Indian subcontinent. Psyllids pests feeds phloem sap form plants, belongs to series Sternorryncha of suborder Homoptera. The group comprises over 3000 species of psyllids in 235 recognised genera, distributed worldwide. Super family Psylloidea comprises 6 families viz., Psyllidae, Calophyidae, Phacopteronidae, Homotomidae, Carsidaridae and Triozide. Psyllids are free living and 15 per cent of known species of psyllids are gall inducers. Life cycle of psyllids involves an egg stage, five nymphal instars before becoming adult. Basic characters of Psyllid pests Adult psyllids resemble miniature cicads, ranging in length from 1-10 mm Both sexes posses two pairs of wings, forewings with harder constitency than hind wings Beak is short and three segmented Five nymphal instars, wingless, possessing fore wing and hind wing pads. Nymphs produce white waxy secretions Psyllids are dioecious and at emergence the sexes normally occur in a ratio of 1:1. Male and female produces sex specific and species specific acoustic signals during mating Economically important as pest, vector and biocontrol agent Biology of Psyllids Eggs of Psyllids The eggs are generally brown to black in colour, 1 mm long and ovoid in shape, although colour, size, and shape can vary slightly between species. Each female lays between 45 and 700 eggs, either in clusters of approximately 10-150...

आम के बौर (फूल) के रोग और उनका प्रबंधन Mango production is seriously hampered by many diseases particularly in recent days. About 140 disease-causing pathogens are known to inflict damage to mango crop at various stages of its production. Among them, diseases on inflorescences or blossoms, if unchecked, take heavy toll on yield of mango. Powdery mildew and blossom blight or anthracnose are the most notorious diseases infecting mango in India at the time of flowering and fruit set. Powdery mildew of Mango blossoms Powdery mildew affecting  mango inflorescence is characterised by greyish white or whitish colour talc like haze and it may cover the inflorescence partially or entirely, leading to reduced fruit set or complete failure of the crop. It affects the young developing fruits also. This disease is caused by a fungus named as Pseudoidium anacardii. In different developmental stages of panicle/ inflorescence, no infection occurs up to protected stage (elongated inflorescence still protected by bracts), even when the disease level reached the peak on other inflorescence in the field. When the axes of the inflorescence changes from green colour to red colour, the inflorescence become slowly susceptible to powdery mildew i.e., from the protected stage susceptibility increases and the full bloom stage is the most susceptible stage. Powdery mildew symptoms were diagnosed in...

7 प्रमुख फल फसलों के कायि‍क विकार तथा उनका प्रबंधन।  Disturbance in the plant tissue metabolic activity and environmental variables like temperature, light, aeration and nutritional imbalances resulting disorders in the fruit crops. In fruit crops, the deficiency of micro-nutrients just like Zn, Bo, Mn  causes many more disorders than that of macro-nutrients. 1. Physiological disorders of Mango: Spongy Tissue in Mango:  It is a major problem in Alphonso, It is a physiological disorder in which fruit pulp remains unripe because of unhydrolyzed starch due to physiological and biochemical disturbances because of high temperature, convective heat and post harvest exposure to sunlight. Management: Use of mulching and post harvest exposure to low temperatures between 10-15 C for 10-18 hours has been useful in reducing the malady. Biennial Bearing in Mango: This is one of the most burning problems since it renders mango cultivation less remunerative to the growers. Biennial bearing is also known as alternate bearing. It indicates yield variations in alternate years i.e. an year of optimum  or  heavy  fruiting followed by a year of little or no fruiting.  The  problem  of biennial  bearing  is  a  varietal character governed by genetic makeup, and this tendency starts exhibiting in mango plant even at the second year of fruiting and become more serious as the age advances. Management : Proper  upkeep  and  after ...

आम की फसल में आम पीप या सैप से नुकसान और उनका प्रबंधन Sap-injury in Mango (Mangifera indica L.) Sap-injury is an important post-harvest problem in mango . The mango fruit has a network of branching fruit ducts, which are present in both fruit and stalk and penetrate the transition zone between the fruit and its stalk. Several large fruit ducts continue into the stalk but end a short distance beneath the abscission zone. These fruit ducts contain a viscous, caustic liquid referred to as mango sap. Flow of sap between fruit and stalk is a part of the growth process. The amount of sap exuded varies with cultivar, maturity and production area. As the fruit matures and ripens, sap flow decreases and eventually stops. Formation of an abscission layer blocks further sap flow and the fruit falls from the tree. If this sap comes in contact with the peel of the fruit, it causes a darkening or browning of the peel in the region of contact. This discolouration of the peel is referred to as sap-injury or sap burn-injury. Sap-injury in mango fruit is a major industry concern, as it results in poor fruit quality and lower prices, especially in the export markets. Different experiments have been conducted to devise strategy for sap-injury management in commercial mango...
